Embrun Family Karate Club Kajukenbo

Building Stronger Families Through Martial Arts – Confidence, Discipline, and Fun for All Age

About Kajukenbo

At Embrun Karate, we proudly offer training in Kajukenbo, a dynamic and practical martial art rooted in real-world self-defense. Developed in Hawaii in the late 1940s, Kajukenbo is a hybrid system that blends the strengths of five distinct martial arts:

KA – Karate: for powerful strikes and disciplined movement
JU – Judo and Jujitsu: for throws, joint locks, and grappling
KEN – Kenpo: for fluid combinations and rapid-fire techniques
BO – Boxing: for footwork, timing, and striking precision

Kajukenbo was created with one goal in mind: to survive and prevail in street combat. It’s not a sport—it’s a system designed to be adaptable, effective, and brutally efficient when necessary.

At Embrun Karate, we honor this legacy while fostering a respectful, inclusive, and empowering environment for all students.

Whether you’re a beginner seeking confidence and fitness, or an experienced martial artist looking to expand your skill set, Kajukenbo offers a comprehensive approach to self-defense. Our curriculum emphasizes:

  • Practical techniques for real-life scenarios;
  • Conditioning and mental resilience;
  • Respect, discipline, and personal growth;
  • A supportive community that trains together and grows together; and
  • Kajukenbo is more than just a martial art—it’s a philosophy of adaptability, courage, and self-mastery.
